The following functions are available:

First line:

  1. Burger menu top left: Here the menu can be hidden or shown.

  2. Search text: Here you can search for terms within the document. The icon with the magnifying glass shows the search results. By clicking on the magnifying glass with the number of search results, the pages on which the search term was found are displayed.

  3. Exact search hits: This slider controls the search mechanism. Here you can select whether you want to search for whole words or partial hits.
    a. Whole words Here, search results are displayed that exactly match the word you are looking for. If, for example, a letter is missing at the end, there will be no hits.
    b. Find partial matches You don't have to enter the exact word to find it. Parts of the word will also lead to the result.

Second line:

  1. Table of Contents: See the section on this page “Table of Contents”

  2. Pages: Shows a list of the pages in the open document. You can scroll here to quickly jump to another page.

  3. Search result within document: See the description in line 1 “Search text”.

  4. Clipping: Here the currently clipped PDF pages are displayed across all documents. See also: https://itek-branchenwissen.atlassian.net/wiki/x/MQCWTw und https://itek-branchenwissen.atlassian.net/wiki/x/LICTTw

Table of contents

Some PDF documents have tables of contents stored in the document. These can be integrated by manufacturers when creating PDF documents and are not created automatically. The information in this table of contents comes directly from the PDF document. The PDF viewer can recognize this as a table of contents and then displays the table of contents as follows:

You can then click on the individual headings in these tables of contents to jump to the corresponding page. The inclusion of a table of contents is therefore a quality feature of PDF documents. However, a table of contents is not necessary for every document. As a rule, manufacturers should integrate tables of contents into the PDF document for better navigation in product catalogs, price lists or spare parts catalogs.

Links in the table of contents

In PDF documents, links can be stored in various places in the document by manufacturers. These places can then be clicked on. Links are used on the page of, for example, a table of contents in a PDF document in order to jump directly to the relevant page. Providing links in the table of contents increases the usability within a PDF document and is therefore also a quality feature of PDF documents:

Print

The “Print” function can be used to print PDF documents. When a PDF document is open, you can click on the “Print” icon at the top of the bar. A dialog box will then open, asking you which pages exactly you want to print:

You can then choose from the following functions:

  1. All: The entire document is printed.

  2. Current page: Only the currently opened page is printed.

  3. Range: Here you can specify the page numbers “from to” that should be printed.

Context menu

The context menu opens when you, for example, highlight a word or a number within a PDF document. If a number is highlighted, the context menu looks like this:

You then have the following options:

  1. A direct jump to the offered page number within the open document. It is important to note that the "Go to page" function is only displayed if the page is also present in the open document. For example, if the number 200 is marked in a document with 100 pages, the "Go to page" function is not displayed.

  2. Open the shop search to jump to the shop search with the marked number and search for a product. For example, factory article numbers can be marked in order to then find the product again in the shop search.

If a term or text is highlighted, the context menu looks like this:

You can then choose from the following functions:

  1. Open the shop search to search for the highlighted term within the shop search. Here you can then search for all products that are available in the shop.

  2. Find in Document searches the open document for the selected text or term.

  3. Jump to article search on https://heizungslabel.de/

Scrolling and zooming

You can use the “mouse wheel” or the “mouse wheel” function to scroll through the PDF pages within a PDF document. On a Mac, you can also zoom in or out on the currently displayed page by clicking on “Control (Ctrl)”. The same function works on a Windows operating system by pressing “Strg”:

You can then choose from the following functions:

  1. Magnifying glass with +: Enlarges the displayed page.

  2. Circle with dot: Returns to the default view or size

  3. Magnifying glass with -: Reduces the size of the displayed page.

Return to the shop

Within a PDF document, a term can be marked to then search for it in the online shop:

If you then jump to the search in the online shop, the search term is automatically entered into the search field and the search is carried out. You will then automatically receive the search results. The previously opened document remains visible to the user at the bottom of the screen, so that you can jump back here. If you click on the PDF document at the bottom of the screen, you can go back to the point in the document where the search was triggered.

Shopping Cart

By clicking on the shopping cart symbol in the top line, you can jump to the current shopping cart in the online shop:

Download

You can download documents or videos within a library. The clipping function allows you to put together documents individually and then download them. See the following page:

Turn clockwise

With the “Rotate clockwise” function, you can rotate the currently open page clockwise. If you then scroll further, all other pages will also be rotated. The function therefore affects the entire document and all pages:

Links to documents

Create links, for example, to link directly from digital advertising banners to the relevant documents in your libraries. This allows your customers and employees to find the right product information much more quickly. Another area of application is QR codes on packaging, which can be scanned to then directly access the relevant documents and information.

It is important to note that if the catalogs are deleted, the links will no longer work because no results can be found.

Direct catalog access

If you then open this link in your browser, you will land directly in the PDF viewer of the document in question:

Here the functions are limited to viewing, searching and printing the document.
