GTIN (EAN) (GTIN)
The GTIN is the successor of the former EAN and represents a unique article key throughout the European region. The specification of the GTIN is an important quality feature for the actual products. In some exceptions in the assortment (see Chapter 1.2), a GTIN is often not available.
Content | Description | Structure |
GTIN (EAN) | GTIN consisting of 13 or 14 characters for the identification of the article within the GTIN format catalog. | GTIN format |
The GTIN provides a unique identification of an article. Reuse is excluded by GS1 since January 1, 2019. Further details can be found here: GTIN Non Reuse - Neue Vergaberegel für GTINs
A GTIN may only be assigned to exactly one article number. The exception here is an article number change.
